The Township of Augusta does not have curbside waste/recycling pick up.
Residents are responsible for getting their own waste/recycling to either of our two waste transfer sites where they can dispose of most items FREE of charge.
As per By-Law 3363-2018 all household waste must be in clear bags and under 40 lb.
Proof of residency will be required at both transfer sites.
WASTE DIVERSION
Recycling and composting reduces the waste that is collected and transported at our Transfer Stations. The more we recycle and compost the higher the waste diversion rate. If we can divert more waste from the transfer station, the township will receive additional funding from Stewardship Ontario to assist in the operation and promotion of recycling freeing up tax payer dollars for other projects.

Cans– food and drink cans (must be rinsed clean)
Plastics- Bottles, jars, tubs & lids, milk containers (must be rinsed clean)
*Recyclables need to be sorted into the above categories
We Cannot Recycle:
Dishes, windows, mirrors, oil containers, pizza boxes, dirty or wet cardboard, plastic grocery bags, styrofoam containers/packaging, clamshells, wrapping paper, tinfoil, bubble wrap, ceramics, paper cans, metal can ends, film plastic, storage totes, toys, piping, tool boxes, hangers, laundry baskets, bubble wrap, paper milk or juice cartons, paper coffee cups. [These items go in the garbage].

These items are accepted on the United Counties of Leeds & Grenville’s Hazardous Waste Days (see below).
PITCH-IN DAY
A road side clean up program is held on the last Saturday or April each spring. On Pitch In Day, individuals and groups 
clean up litter on their local streets, parks and neighbourhoods. Volunteers can start as early as they wish and end by noon when a free lunch is provided at the Grenville Fish & Game Club. Bag pick up begins at 1 pm.

TREASURE DAY 
One person’s junk is another person’s treasure. Treasure Day in Augusta Township is held on the 2nd Saturday in May & September. Gather your unwanted but reusable items and place them at the end of your driveway with a FREE sign. Then tour the Township looking for new-to-you treasures.
AMNESTY DAY
Amnesty Day at our Transfer Sites is on the 4th Saturday in May and September. At this time, each household can bring ONE (1) mattress, ONE (1) box spring and ONE (1) couch or stuffed chair to the sites for disposal for FREE.
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAYS
The United County of Leeds & Grenville operate usually three Household Hazardous Waste day events each year. Household hazardous waste items are accepted from residents of the Counties including the Township of Augusta on these days ONLY. Waste is not accepted from commercial businesses.
This program is in conjunction with Stewardship Ontario, Product Care, and Automotive Materials Stewardship and are aimed at keeping hazardous and special waste materials out of Ontario’s landfills and waterways.
On these days, residents can drop off FREE OF CHARGE items such as:
Corrosive: batteries, drain cleaners, oven cleaners
Toxic: pesticides, rat poison, pharmaceuticals, cleaning fluids
Reactive: pool chemicals, ammonia, bleach, aerosols
Flammable: gasoline, paints, BBQ starter, oils, solvents, propane cylinders

As per the Township’s Harassment By-Law 3259-2016, Augusta is committed to a Safe Working Environment for all employees, including those at our Waste Management sites.
